- Be sure that you and your coach are filling out the form for the program you want. The Workshop is the first program, and it is for sophomore and juniors. The Institute is the second program; there is no grade restriction, but most who attend are seniors-to-be.
- Remember the deadlines are for the application forms being received at Dartmouth, not for their being sent.
- You do not need to send all of the materials together. In fact, you are advised to send each of these forms as soon as possible, even if that means sending them separately. Do not wait on your coach to complete Form 2 or your high school to send the transcript. In the past, such waiting has unnecessarily delayed applications.
- Fill out the forms on a computer (RTF Format) or write neatly (PDF Format).
- Be sure to include all the information requested. For example, your address must include the town/city, state, and zip code if you are to receive a notice of admission.
- Please do not send materials by certified mail. Certified mail will delay delivery; we will get a notice and have to go to the post office to get your application. Our debate offices are not always staffed during the spring.
- If you send your application via a private delivery service (UPS, Fed Ex, etc) omit the HB 6145, which is part of the campus mail system. Send the materials to the Workshop or Institute at Robinson Hall 319, Dartmouth College, Hanover NH 03755. There is no street address; they all know where we are. Waive any signature requirements or the delivery is likely to be delayed. Our debate offices are not always staffed during the spring.
- If you send your application by US Mail Express, waive the signature requirement or the delivery is likely to be delayed. Our debate offices are not always staffed during the spring.
- If you would like a confirmation that we have received your application, include a stamped, addressed index card in your application, and we will send it by return mail. You could also e-mail Ken Strange for a confirmation; your e-mail will be answered within a few days.
- Try to send your application so that it will arrive before the deadline by regular US mail. If time is growing short, then use some form of overnight delivery. As a last resort and only as a last resort, applications can be faxed to 603-646-0004 or e-mailed to Ken Strange. If you use e-mail, be sure to format the materials in a form that is sure to be readable.
All applications are in the cross-platform PDF format. If you cannot read these files, download Acrobat Reader.
If you prefer to type directly on the forms, they are also available in easily editable RTF.
